The Editor

Polly SuperstarPolly Superstar is a champion for sex-positive culture. With her partner, Barron Scott Levkoff, she created Mission Control — a community space in the Mission district of San Francisco. Over the last decade, the two have produced hundreds of sexy and fun parties. The conscious but irreverent Kinky Salon is their flagship event, and is spreading to London, Austin, Middletown, and New York. is their online social network, with 3000 members and hundreds of events ranging from pole dancing classes to Tantra workshops, plus everything that’s happening at Mission Control. Polly used to be a latex fashion designer and now teaches classes on this secret art. She has a passion for cultural change and is a cheerleader for the liberalization of sexuality and relationship models as a step towards a healthier, happier world. She also studies alternative economics and social design, consults for high-tech companies, appears on panels, and instigates spontaneous interactive performance art involving minigolf.

The Designer

Dana Kelly is a graphic designer, marketing professional, photographer, personal assistant, event producer, and non-denominational reverend.
Starting her career in the non-profit sector, Dana knew as a fresh designer that her heart belonged to those in need. After getting a degree in Marketing, she opened a small design and marketing firm based in Santa Cruz—focusing on meeting the needs of the small and new business community. Her heart  is always on client’s needs and connecting people, as well as producing beautiful collateral within any budget. Other services provided were printing, photography, web design, and website hosting.
“Being apart of the creation of SanFranSexy has been pure joy. I’ve been able to use every ounce of my creative and technical skills as a designer—and serve a community that I love. What more could a pervy artist want?”

The Contributors

Carol QueenCarol Queen is a writer, speaker, educator and activist with a doctorate in sexology. First as an organizer in the lesbian/gay community, where she helped found one of the first gay youth groups in the United States, and later in the emerging international bisexual community, as a sex worker and a practitioner of alternative sexualities, she typically teaches and writes from her own experience and that of her communities even as she references academic thought on these subjects.

Marcia BaczynskiMarcia Baczynski is a relationship coach and communication expert who specializes in helping people understand, ask for, and get what they want in dating, sex and love. She has a particular affinity for working with the kinds of costumed, kinky, pansexual, open people who frequent Kinky Salon and Mission Control.

Dr. Melanie RoseDr. Melanie Rose is a Doctor of Human Sexuality as well as a trained counselor and herbalist. As a clinical sexologist and avid historical researcher, she is interested in the way cultural assumptions about sex profoundly effect our relationship with ourselves and others.  Through a careful examination of the past, she illuminates how assumptions alter over time and challenges us to open ourselves to a new sexual paradigm that embraces positive sexual expression.  She offers intimacy coaching, classes and lectures, as well as a holistic approach to sexual issues.

aka Barron Scott LevkoffProfessor Dandy aka Barron Scott Levkoff is quite possibly San Francisco’s Most Celebrated Pagan, Polyamorous, Puppeteering Bohemian Dandy, Creator Culture Champion, WonderPunk  and Style-mongering fashion plate. He enjoys writing about himself in the third person and sincerely hopes that one day all Menfolk will awaken to the alarmingly glorious and delightfully rewarding realms that await them… beyond that of ‘jeans and a t-shirt’.

Dixie De La TourDixie De La Tour is a dirty girl. Unlike the rest of the card-carrying perverts in this city, she’s written no books, not has she been awarded any fellowships. She should, however, have an honorary Ph.D in sex-positive San Francisco culture after more than a decade of hosting, promoting & throwing underground sexy events. The off-color nature of her life was at odds with her diehard love of storytelling until she decided to create Bawdy Storytelling 3 years ago. Bawdy is now *the*  spot to get dirty from a distance, to listen to juicy tales by those with poor impulse control…and to live vicariously through the stories onstage. There is no safer sex!

Charlie Glickman, PhDDr. Charlie Glickman has been working at Good Vibrations since 1996, when he joined the staff at their Berkeley store. Currently, he is their Education Program Manager and (among other things) runs their in-store After Hours workshop program, their Off-Site Sex Education Program, trains their Sex Educator-Sales Associates and writes copy for their website. In 2005, Charlie received his doctorate in Adult Sexuality Education from the Union Institute and University in Cincinnati, Ohio. In addition, he offers classes on sexuality for psychotherapists and workshops on teaching for sex educators.
